Tis the gift to be simple…

After a roller coaster of a day, I’ve decided what will make me feel better: simplifying everything.

Since I will be moving in a few days, I need to pack up the rest of my stuff anyway, but now is the time to really decide to keep, donate, or throw in the trash.

I LOVE getting rid of stuff..mostly because I’m a complete pack rat and can’t throw things away the first time. This time I want to start fresh. There’s just something about tossing (or donating) a black garbage bag of crap.

I wish I could write a really motivational/informative post about this, but I’m getting antsy just talking about it…must start doing now.

Plus this would be a great time to check out

OOh, and I have it set in my head that I will be doing and documenting the p90x videos. Most likely starting when I’m completely moved in. Usually, I do my challenges for a month, but I think the set time for this one *might* be two months. Hopefully I’ll like it and want to continue, but it will be a full 4 weeks, possibly 8 before I let myself give up.

April’s Goal

It’s been decided. April is total fitness month! I was hoping to have my senior project done so I could use my program to monitor my nutritional intake, but I’ll keep track until it’s done. I practiced with my raw month and lost a lot of fat on my body. I was finally losing that stomach that I’ve always had. Then when March came around I slowly went off of it and gained 5 lbs back. I’m not really concerned with weight loss or numbers so much, as total health.

I’m going to keep track of calories, fat, protein, etc, and then plan to work out 5 days a week (hopefully). I’m also going to focus on taking my vitamins EVERYDAY, along with fish oil. I’m going to stick with 85% raw.

I’m thinking I will mostly follow some of the exercise onDemand programs I have through comcast. I also have tons of recommended exercises I’ve found online.

Problems I expect to occur:
-LAZINESS! This I think will be the most difficult, especially with the recent always tired/lyme/mono scare. I’ve barely had energy to eat and shower, working out will be a challenge.

-Saying NO to the vending machine. Sometimes at the lab or in between classes I hit the vending machine…it’s right in between my two classes and if I’m hungry I stop.

Ways to overcome the anticipated problems:
-Bring snacks to class. Bring bananas or peanuts if I have to.
-Plan out meals and have food available!
-Do anything to workout…even if it means crunches and push ups before bed (my most likely form of exercise).

I’ve taken some pictures of some of my raw foods I’ve made, and I will post them soon. I’m also going to take measurements again on April 1st (or March 31st).

What I want to accomplish
Hopefully this will push me to continue to write (one of my potential goals), as well as continue to be healthier. I think feeling healthier will give me motivation and confidence in my job search, and I might just have a beach body by summer =).

New Trial

I would consider last months trial a success. I wish I was a little more prepared for this month to have something to do for March. I might make a decision of something I’d like to do just for 2 weeks and start it on the 15th.

For next month I’m juggling a few different ideas. I really liked the idea of writing, and/or reading. By reading, I mean reading other than for school and most likely not e-books or magazines. I might try blogging, or short story writing, or writing in a journal also.

Another idea I really like is kind of a mental health thing, with meditating/yoga at least once a day. I’m thinking of making a list of activities such as meditating, focusing on the chakras, using my Chinese health balls, doing yoga, etc, and doing at least one a day for 30 days. Possibly getting it up to two times a day if it goes nicely.

Another idea, is hard core job searching everyday. Either submitting at least one resume/application or working on my resume, etc. I’m getting really worried about not finding a job at this point, and even though I’m applying, I think if I give it 100% effort I might be more successful.

I’ve also thought about spending 1-2 hours every single night on school work…maybe taking Sunday night off. Right now, I’m doing work a couple nights a week for several hours at a time. That’s how I prefer it, but trying to attack my senior project in smaller chunks every night might prove to be more efficient.

I’d like to try to do all of these things, but I know if I try to do them all at once I’ll fail at all of them. The job searching is a good idea now because of timing, since I will be graduating in the beginning of May. But meditating and such would be really helpful now because I’m so stressed out. The same with getting my school projects done is something that needs to get finished up in the next month.

I’m thinking now to either give one of those things the 15 day trial, or extend it into April for another 15 days, or try to block schedule my time and give a little time to each. Maybe just meditating everyday for 15 minutes, and only spending no more than half an hour job searching every night.

There have been ridiculous things going on around here, and the maturity level, or lack there of is really stressing me out. Mark gets annoyed and said I just shouldn’t let it bother me, but it really does. I feel so uncomfortable here when these small childish things happen, that are done purposely to make me feel uncomfortable.
