My Awesome Gluttonous Weekend

This was a great weekend.

First, I got my shipment of my face wash and started using it immediately.

I also indulged in my favorite snack ever.

 almond butter and chocolate chips...oh and apples

I got my hair cut (and styled) by Erin at Mood Swings.

And immediately after, got a pedicure and my eyebrows waxed.


Then, I went to Giant in Camp Hill in my never ending search for my favorite protein drinks. I didn’t find them, but I did get this…


 On Sunday morning, I made {vegan, gluten free} baked pumpkin donuts/muffins with apple chunks…


I devoured a few, and then I did this…

And then after visiting my my favorite princess working at Bob Evan’s, I went shopping at Wegman’s for the first time. And died. Of sheer happiness.


(I have actually eaten at Wegman’s several times, but never actually went grocery shopping.)

This is by far the best organic/natural section I’ve seen anywhere in the area…unfortunately it’s 13 miles round trip from our house. =/

They also have Blueprint Cleanse juices that’ve been dying to try, but I can’t justify the price. I did snatch up the seitan (#allHailSeitan!) and horseradish veganaise because I’ve never seen either before. It was seriously like I had died and gone to a reasonably priced organic vegan heaven. They had bulk packs of tofu, and gallons of almond milk! Oh my!

Oh, and they have my protein shakes!

Ramen Update: Week #1

I’ve gotten through a week of eating Ramen as my primary food group. I thought this experiment would be fun, and it is a little, but I’m definitely feeling the sodium. I drink a lot of water as it is, and I’m feeling extremely dehydrated and my lips are really chapped (more so than normal this time of the year).


I’ve been taking vitamins and other supplements, but I feel like I am still missing out on some nutritional needs. Overall, I feel kinda crappy, though I don’t know if it’s due to the seasons changing or what. I’ve also lost weight, a good couple of pounds. But, I started going to the gym again, and that could be the reason for the weight loss.

Generally, I’ve only been eating ramen once a day, but as my main meal. Sometimes it leaves me with an uneasy feeling in my stomach and it’s my only meal of the day. I did not record every meal like I was supposed to (shame on me), but the gist is:

-granola bar for breakfast

-cup noodles for lunch

-handful of chips for dinner

or lunch and dinner vice versa. Continue reading

Nothin' but Ramen November

Well, it was voted on, and this month will be a trial of eating nothing but ramen noodles. Since it was up in the air until today on what November would be, and the fact that I hate grocery shopping on Sundays, I will go shopping for my supplies tomorrow. I will also finish the perishable food I already have, as to not waste anything. But, I will not buy anything other than noodles, unless they are something to mix in/eat with the noodles.

I’m guessing I’ll be eating a lot of the cup of noodles because they’re simple to make (yes, I know ALL ramen is simple to make). I want to mix in frozen veggies, and maybe tofu. I found some kick ass recipes on the Nissin website, including ramen spinach salad, and ramen pizza.

Health Concerns (from wikipedia) : “A serving of ramen is high in carbohydrates and low in vitamins and minerals. Ramen soup tends to be high in sodium

However, the Maruchan website clearly states:  “Maruchan soups make delicious wholesome meals.”

Upon more research I found a woman who was going to try to eat ramen once a day for a week.  I also found this interesting Ramen blog.

I’m a little upset the bacon flavor is only available in Brazil, and I’m also confused about the “natural chicken” flavor that’s “coming soon.” I believe I will not be limiting myself to only vegetarian varieties because, honestly how many animal products are really in a serving? And the oriental flavor would get boring after a while.

I’m not even going to fathom a guess about how many calories I’ll be eating, or how much money it’ll cost. I’d rather just wait and see. I will eat whatever I’m given at the conference I’m going to in a few weeks, but maybe I’ll stop at a noodle bar while I’m in the city.

Will post info after my trip to the grocery store tomorrow. I’m excited to get this started!
